This immersive study abroad experience in Cusco, Peru provides nursing students the opportunity to explore global health through community engagement, cultural immersion, and service learning in partnership with CerviCusco, an organization focused on cervical cancer prevention and women’s health.
Students will participate in community health outreach and education, visit local hospitals to compare and contrast healthcare systems, and spend time at a local orphanage to better understand community and social support structures. Through these experiences, students will examine how culture, access, and resources influence health outcomes.
The program also includes a weekend educational excursion to Machu Picchu, allowing students to experience the history, culture, and geography of the Andean region while reflecting on the broader context of health and community in Peru.
